ERA provided comprehensive structural engineering services for a multi-faceted senior living complex in Ypsilanti, MN, serving as both engineer of record and precast specialty engineer in collaboration with Kerkstra Precast.

The campus consists of five three-story walkout buildings and a substantial 208,000 sf senior housing building. The main senior housing structure incorporates a precast concrete first level, supporting three stories of wood-frame construction above. Its design includes basement parking, enhancing accessibility and convenience for residents and visitors. Complementing these residential structures is a standalone 2,800 sf single-story clubhouse, designed to serve as a community hub for the complex. ERA’s dual role in this project, providing both general structural engineering and specialized precast design services, ensured a cohesive and efficient approach to the complex’s diverse structural needs. This comprehensive involvement allowed for optimized integration of precast elements with traditional wood framing, resulting in a well-coordinated and structurally sound senior living environment.
