ERA provided structural engineering services for the Minnesota State Senate Building (MNSB), a 293,000 sf, three-story facility adjacent to the State Capitol in St. Paul, MN.

The project accommodates 67 senator offices, 260 parking stalls, three hearing rooms (including one larger than any in the Capitol), a mechanical roof enclosure, and an exterior plaza gathering space. The structural design incorporates multiple systems: post-tensioned concrete for parking levels, plaza slab, and interior lower slab; conventionally reinforced concrete and composite steel framing at Level 1; and composite steel framing for Levels 2 and 3. A prominent south-facing glass curtain wall provides Capitol views from every floor. Completed in 2017, the MNSB serves multiple campus needs, providing administrative space, accessible public meeting areas, material handling capabilities for the Capitol complex, and covered parking with enhanced accessibility.
