ERA provided structural engineering services for St. Louis Park’s Recreation Outdoor Center (ROC), designed as a year-round community gathering space.

This innovative facility features a 110′ x 220′ open-air ice rink/covered field connected to the existing St. Louis Park Recreational Center. The structure’s most distinctive feature is its elegant glulam bowstring trusses supporting a tensile fabric roof system, creating a visually striking yet lightweight covering. The facility includes a two-story link to the rec center. The lower level houses collapsible aluminum bleachers, a warming house, four locker rooms, utility and storage rooms, a refrigeration room, and space for resurfacing equipment. The upper level offers an observation plaza overlooking the playing surface, a media/nest room, and a large meeting room. This project demonstrates ERA’s expertise in designing specialized recreational facilities that combine innovative structural systems with functional community spaces.
