ERA served as both the structural engineer of record and precast specialty engineer for the University of Minnesota’s groundbreaking TCF Bank Stadium, which opened on the Minneapolis campus in 2009.

Working alongside Populous (formerly HOK Sports), M.A. Mortenson Construction, and Wells Concrete, ERA designed the modern, open-air facility’s horseshoe-shaped bowl, accommodating 50,000 fans while setting new standards for sustainable stadium construction. The stadium achieved a historic milestone as the first football stadium – college or professional – to receive LEED certification. ERA’s forward-thinking integrated structural and precast design expedited construction while providing built-in flexibility for future expansion up to 80,000 seats, all while maintaining architectural integrity. The facility’s environmental leadership, later recognized with the GameDay Zero Waste Touchdown Challenge Award from the National Wildlife Federation, showcases how ERA’s innovative structural solutions support both athletic excellence and environmental stewardship.
