ERA served as both structural engineer of record and precast specialty engineer for the Cobalt Condominiums, a landmark mixed-use development in Minneapolis’ historic Saint Anthony Falls neighborhood.

The complex integrates a nine-story, 134,000 sf condominium tower along University Avenue and a five-story, 30,000 sf tower along Central Avenue with 45,000 sf of street-level retail, including a high-end grocery store and drug store. Working in collaboration with Pope Architects and McGough Construction, ERA implemented its patented ER-POST™ precast truss system to create column-free retail spaces while efficiently supporting the residential towers above. The structural design accommodates diverse programming needs, from a full-block underground parking garage to a three-story, 70,000 sf parking facility. The ER-POST™ system enabled optimal space utilization and efficient construction sequencing, demonstrating ERA’s expertise in delivering innovative structural solutions for complex urban mixed-use developments.
