Citizens Live at The Wylie

Opened in October 2026, Citizens Live at The Wylie is a new 98,500 sf live entertainment venue in Pittsburgh’s historic Lower Hill District.

The approximately 4,300-capacity venue includes a main performance floor, balcony seating, hospitality spaces, and multiple accessible roof decks, creating a flexible setting for concerts, comedy, community events, and other live performances. The design also draws inspiration from the Lower Hill’s rich musical and cultural history.

ERA Structural Engineering served as the structural engineer of record, providing structural design and coordination for the venue’s primary building systems. The project required close integration of the structural framing with the large, open performance spaces, tiered audience areas, architectural features, building systems, and specialized venue requirements. ERA worked collaboratively with the design and construction teams to develop efficient, constructible structural solutions while supporting the architectural vision and functional demands of a modern performance venue. The complex foundation system is designed to accommodate a sloping site, with a full-story elevation difference across the block and with future adjacent parking garage in mind. ERA also provided support systems for the performance rigging needs and sound system.

Citizens Live at The Wylie is located on Wylie Avenue near PPG Paints Arena and adds a significant new entertainment destination to the continued redevelopment of the Lower Hill and brings live music back to a neighborhood with a longstanding place in Pittsburgh’s cultural history.
