ERA provided structural engineering and steel connection design services for the Adams Spanish Immersion School expansion project in St. Paul, MN.

The project encompassed two building additions totaling 42,000 sf, along with extensive renovations to the existing structure. The additions included new classrooms, a cafeteria/commons area with kitchen facilities, and a stage for performances, allowing the existing gymnasium to be fully dedicated to physical education, assembly, and community use. ERA’s structural design addressed several significant challenges, including poor soil conditions and a confined urban site. The project required careful phasing to maintain uninterrupted school operations throughout construction. The renovation scope included upgrading existing classrooms to create new science and art spaces while improving natural daylighting. ERA’s solutions ensured structural integrity while facilitating the school’s educational and community objectives.
