ERA provided structural engineering services for Ryan Companies’ headquarters, the Millwright Building, a 174,000 sf office space in downtown Minneapolis, MN.

The four-story structure, completed in 2017 at a cost of $26M, features exposed steel and brick construction. The project presented a unique engineering challenge: developing an innovative method to improve the levelness of unshored composite slabs on metal deck beyond typical building code requirements. ERA collaborated closely with the construction team to create a custom, multi-pronged approach that achieved superior floor flatness, showcasing Ryan Companies’ commitment to quality construction. The LEED Silver-Certified building includes various amenities such as a rooftop terrace, building commons, extensive bike-friendly features, skyway access, and convenient proximity to Downtown East Commons park. This project demonstrates ERA’s ability to develop innovative structural solutions while meeting sustainable design objectives in modern office construction.
