ERA provided structural engineering services for the OATI South Campus, a state-of-the-art facility that combines office space, a data center, and an innovative energy system.

This 110,000 sf, 5-story building is designed to accommodate 300 employees and includes a 9,000 sf training center. The structural design features a composite slab on steel framing for each floor. To address lateral forces, ERA incorporated four sets of concrete cores strategically placed around restroom areas, stairs, elevators, and mechanical shafts. Due to challenging site conditions, including poor soils and peat/swamp deposits, ERA designed a pile-supported foundation with a 16″ structural slab on grade, ensuring long-term stability and performance. A key aspect of this project is its microgrid design, showcasing cutting-edge energy technology. The building includes an internal mechanical plant, solar panels, and rooftop wind turbines. ERA’s structural expertise was crucial in designing additional framing to support these renewable energy components on the roof.
