Over the past two decades, ERA has partnered with various architects to design and engineer 28 Cabela’s locations throughout the United States, encompassing both new construction and renovation projects.

Our experience with these specialized retail environments enables us to efficiently deliver structural solutions that support the brand’s unique features, from dramatic entrance canopies to complex aquarium systems and display areas for wildlife mounts. For example, ERA served as engineer of record on the distinctive 180,000-square-foot Cabela’s (now Bass Pro Shops) store in Kansas City, KS. The facility showcases ERA’s expertise in combining multiple structural systems – exposed log framing, heavy timber trusses, and conventional steel and concrete construction – to create an immersive retail environment. The design features reinforced concrete aquariums and the brand’s signature log canopy entrance, seamlessly integrating these architectural elements with the building’s structural requirements.
