ERA served as the Structural Engineer of Record for Austin’s new 105,500 sf Community Recreation Center, a collaborative project between the City of Austin and the YMCA, supported by Vision 2020.

This two-story facility offers a comprehensive range of amenities, including a gymnastics area, community education and event spaces, leisure and lap lane pools, a wellness center, and an indoor play area. The design also incorporates a gymnasium, track, and basketball courts. The center’s layout allows the YMCA to manage specific areas while maintaining free public access to City-financed spaces such as the youth activity center and indoor playground. Since its completion, the facility has made a significant impact on the community, serving over 3,500 children, 650 low-income families, and 7,300 people annually. It has created 175 jobs and generates a $3.2 million economic impact annually. The project’s success and community value were recognized when it was named one of Finance & Commerce’s Top Projects of 2020.
